Default Sketching again...

I got the bug to do some sketching for something fast and agile: a 28" span, mid-wing thing.

Welcome back. Sketch away! Before you know it, you'll be building and flying again. The bug sometimes goes dormant but usually returns like a breath of fresh air.

Great! Looks sleek. Canopy positioned forward always looks great. Fighter like.

Keep on sketching...

Thanks! I'm about ready to print out patterns and start cutting parts.
Here's a look at the two wings with the fuselage:

One cool thing about 1/2A is that you can print out all the rib patterns on one sheet of paper.

Thanks for sharing any and all info.

What drawing program are you using? Would like to learn how to use some form of computer drawing program but last time I tried, could barely graduate beyond casting a line, quickly lost interest and gave it up in favor of ole reliable fallback, pencil, paper, and some remnant drafting skills learnt in junior high... I've got some program called Visio but it seems very difficult to use for a newbie and I'm not sure if licensing agreement is still good... Is there anything out there that's easier to use for "analog types"?

Hey H5606,
I've been using DeltaCad for about ten or eleven years. It's extremely easy to use and does everything I need. It's inexpensive, too. I've drawn every set of plans I've done since since 2006 in it. You can also download a demo.
Here's a K&B .19 I drew using it. It's good enough for pasting into plans.

5606 ---
You might want to explore Openoffice Draw. It's open source software and available as a free download.

While it is limited in many ways, I do all of my circuit diagrams, board masks and stuffing diagrams with Power Point. For simple work, it has a fairly sophisticated drawing capability.

Good to see your name back in the lights again. Many of the old crowd have disappeared or are posting little these days. I drop by to read, but have also been pretty inactive on RCU. BTW, I like the tapered leading edge. With the tapered trailing edge, I think it looks like a lot of other existing planforms.

Dave, so glad to see you back on RCU. Was just thinking about the SureShark I made years ago and how much fun it was. I was thinking of shrinking the plans to .010 size and making another one. Thoughts?

Looking forward to seeing your new creation fly.

Tim

I agree with Brian about the canopy, jet fighter like. That's why my vote is for the wing taper on the front, just makes it look more jet like. If that's not what you're going for, then..... Looks good though!

The swept leading edge looks all the "biz". But with the length of the nose you show it could be an issue with the CG placement. I'm thinking it would need tail weight where the swept forward trailing edge version would be fine. A SLIGHTLY shorter nose on the swept leading edge wing might be a worthy idea.
