Hey CrocEnd,
A twin, revamped from a old line control would be a hot project. The structure usually needs to be compleatly redrawn to get the weight down and change the structural strength to support the radio gear as apposed to the strength going to hold the plane from a bell crank.
I have used a few line controls as starting points for planes, but it is a lot of work. I say go for it!!

Okay, that means I've gotta buy an 0.61 then!
hehehehe...
Now just to clarify, I'm thinking about entering my microbipe even though it was designed in around december.
It needs some redesign work, is this applicable or do I have to do something new???

I'd say that if you redisign/rebuild and have it finished within the timeframe of the contest it would be fine in my books.

Life is to short to get crazy, I'm with Bipe. Get at it, and let it fly!!!
As far as I'm concerned it should be in.

Hey, just wondering - now that my plane has been finished, test flown successfully (untill the engine quit and it spun in) am I good to go for the contest? Or do I need to fix it, and get a test flight with a landing (without damage) to be eligible??

I think that it is up to you. In the last contest we had said that there must be proof that it was flown by the end of the contest date, but in actuality votes were cast for planes that even now remain uncompleted.
Regardless, in my mind you have fulfilled the requirements of having being completed and flown by the end date. I suppose you might get more votes if it completes a successful flight, but for the rest of our sakes maybe you should leave it as it is until the contest is over.[sm=lol.gif]

It flew as long as mine did last year, before a complete rebuild. If I have a vote, AJ's plane has made the requirements, and maybe even raised the bar for this contest.
This is for fun, and anyone who goes through the process of designing, building and flying a plane, even if it crashes the first time out, is a winner and has completed the requirements.
If there is ever a $1000 dollar prize then lets make up some real rules. But for now anyone who lives through the experience of that first throw, and tosses his baby into the wind, win loose or draw, he has my admiration.
Just my view,

RE: 2004 1/2A Design Contest Official Rules
HEY ALL!!!!!!
sorry about the lack of updates on my contest plane, i have kind of a problem, i was intending on building a p-61 black window out of foam, so i turbo caded some plans up and fiddled with the hot wire bow, found out i needed some additional tools to do the job so i spent alot of time making the tools i needed but i still could not cut the shapes i needed to cut , so i figured i'd have to go with a simpler plane, but my twin bro insisted on a twin still, so i turboed up another set of plans for a b-25 about 1/15th scale, and cut out the whole kit. i will be done by the dead line but to make a long story short, can i change to a b-25 for my contest plane?????
sorry i have not mentioned anything earlier, but was laid up for awhile. if it is ok to have the b-25 for my contest plane then i have a big pile of build pics and stuff i will post, one other reason why i did not update the contest site, i kinda forgot my password[], bipeflyer if you could email me with info regarding this thanks, will post pics soon

Would it be totally unacceptable to move the due date for the contest ahead to May 3? I'm slow and I don't get a lot of time during the week to work on my plane, so it would be nice to have just one more weekend to try and finish things up.
Thanks!
Derek

I here by formally apply for the official okey dokey to extend the deadline for my project also
Really think it will be flying this weekend. Trying to find someone with a digital video camera to capture it's soul during the first flight.

hey guys-
any chance of having the end be on the 8th
Going away today and wont be back until Sunday, will still get if finished (hopefully!!!) but wont get a chance to fly it until Rog's Fly-In on the 8th.
that would give everyone, myself included, another week to get everything all pretty!
whadda ya think?

How about 1:00pm EST on May 8th 2004!!! If you have not flown or crashed your contest plane by them, them you must pour nitro fuel on to it and light is aflame!!!!
Later,
Tim
