RE: Norvel .074 Owners
I have 3 and YES I like all 3 of them. I actually followed the instructions for break-in and the engines all run well. I would buy another if I needed it, or I would be glad to take any that are being given away. I run 25/20 all synthetic with ZERO problems. They start well, run strong and last a very long time. I think they get better with age. If I had to change anything about them, I would want them to idle down a little more. My .061's idle better than my .074's. Other than that, they ROCK!!!!

Yes, I would buy another one. The only problem I had was keeping the prop screw tight. I replaced it with a socket head screw and that solved the problem.
I started my .074 for the first time since Oct. last Saturday. It fired right up when I put the starter to it. It runs really nice and it is so quiet. I have yet to find a good home for it. I have crashed the first two planes is has been mounted on.
I'm thinking about just replacing the Black Widow on one of my LS planes and adding landing gear and have an easy to fly plane that should have plenty of vertical power.

I have 3 and I think they are the best engine for the money in any size. All are broken in as per the instructions and I run them on 25% nitro 20% castor. Almost the same as 2fast4u, but I find that my .074s idle lower than my .061s.

RE: Norvel .074 Owners
The Norvel .074 does everything a motor should and then some. Extremely well made, throttles perfectly and has one of the best power to weight ratios of any engine ever. One major weak spot is the thin connecting rod. Take care in breaking in, follow the instructions or use a heat gun for initial break in starts. The rod can bend easily if you are flooded and ram the starter to it.

I've got one, as well as an .049.
I needed to remove the throttle stop to get the idle below 6500 RPM. Now it's 3500 like the literature says. I sent SIG a note about this in case they haven't heard of it before.
Otherwise, I agree with the comments above.

I have an .074 and an .061. I really like these little engines a lot. I build and fly scale biplanes and these are perfect because of their throttle response and light weight. With small mufflers they fit nicely inside cowls. I think they would be perfect for 2-4 multi engine applications too!
I plan on buying more for all my future projects.
