which is faster/powerful the Norvel .074 or AP .15 yellow jacke
Which is faster/powerful the Norvel .074 or AP .15 yellow jacket? Or is another Norvel better for the price. I am flying 20 - 29 oz planes and am looking for a powerful motor to pick up the plane wth thrust and some speed. I have the AP .15 yellow jacket on my Waatage Cap 232 and it seems okay, I am just trying to get a comparison to see which motor to buy next. I think the Norvels are smaller, I assume that would make it less powerful than the AP .15 yellow jacket. I am not sure.

I wouldn't compare the 074 to the 15; different engines. however, I have had both the norvel 15 and the ap 15. the ap is heavier, less power, but cowls better. had it in a h.o.b. mustang, flew well. the norvel 15 doesn't cowl as well with the side muffler, but is a screamer.

The AP spins a slightly larger prop slightly faster, (more power). I would never put an AP in my 1/2a planes becauuse of its weight. I would have to add too much weight to balance them. If I could move around equipment so I didn't have to add weight I might consider it. I have never, to this point, found that the case.
The .074 is a wonder, as light as .049 and more powerful than a .10. I build to fly on the wing not on the engine and the .074 allows me that option.
