RayCamel,

We need to compare notes! I also picked the B-25 J for my contest entry, powered by two Pee Wee .020's in 1lb/cu in white foam. I have only cut the wing cores, and templates for the fuselage. I am following the paint scheme of the 498th Falcons as detailed in Squadron Signal's publication. Since you are in Lombard (20 minutes away from me), perhaps we can do a formation flight?

Email or PM me if you are intersted.

Sean

Thanks

I have cut wings using the method from the thread and it works well. I did add a spring to the wire and attached the spring to the clamp. The spring helps keep the wire tight and the cut straight in the event you inadvertently ease off the tension a bit.

! You look like an old pro with the foam. That's a great way to reduce what would normally be a complicated bit of carpentry to it's simplist terms. Be careful of the fumes that come off that foam.

JLMG1979 - thanks, for my templates i used thin aluminum, cut with sharp scissors, very smooth, works very good. I was worried that it would cool the wire so i put the templates on with foam tape to space it from the foam block, turned out ok, so i went with it. my templates for the fuse and nacelles were cardstock.

COMBATPIGG - Thanks fer the kind words, yeah useing foam eliminates all the intricate wood working, not that i mind buildin with wood, but foam is alot cheaper, and i had to design it my self(plans), foam cutting is alot simpler to make plans for. now that twin bipe looked like lots of precision wood working, good job on it BTW.

well its comin down to the hairs end. got the final coat of light gray on bottom, and first coat of olive drab on the top. haven't really decided what kind of scheme to go with. I know it will become apparent when its done[8D].The paint is aerogloss. it was nice to spray, pretty easy to clean up if your careful, just smelled really bad [:'(]With the airbrush it was almost hard to get any drips, rob my bro said I guess you would have to be pretty unskilled to mess up. I should mention that the prep work was rushed and finally given up on, I mean I prepped it but the poly/glass skin gets dented quite easily, fill one two more appear kind of thing. most of the electronics are in need to remount engines and retracts, gas tanks etc... we ll see how close we can get to the finishJK I'm rushin but I'm not sure if it'll be test flown before the bell dings. I do know that it will be complete shy of engine cowls and scaley stuffs like turrets and guns & such. I'll add allot of cool stuff after the test flight. well that all for now I keep you alls posted thanks chuck(rob&chuck AKA the twins)

That's shaping up real nice, what a job! Polyu and cloth is something I haven't tried, I was tempted to try it with newspaper sometime on foam. You should be able to run it into a light pole and keep on flying!

well fellas its done......almost, I neglected to bench run both 061's and one has about 10ish hours of actual run time the other has about 30 min of run time on it , and the older motor is a old lite machines 061 that started exshust throttle and I bought a new carb and slapped it on and its been flying for 2 years. when I tach'ed them it came up 15000, but idles lowand well(3000ish). the new one came up 18'ish and it wasnt fully leaned either, and wont idle as lowor well. as for the airframe its done, except I pulled the retract servos and locked them down, simplified it a little.paint is on and tanks are in(2 fuji's). ended up haveing to put a AAx4 nimh batt pack(4.4 ozs) in the very nose to balance, and just in front of that 1.9 ozs of lead in the very tip[].but weight came out too 43.5 ozs no fuel. right around 17ozs sqft,I guess thats ok it'll have to be. so I think I need to get me another 061, it might take a minute but I will. I SWEAR I'LL FLY IT!!!!!!!!,since I swore and all does this mean I'm good with the holders of the T-shirts. thanks guys I really leared alot and it actually turned out pretty nice. I did have the occasional "disagrement"with the twin but it would'nt have gotton done without him.thanks chuck (rob&chuck)

ps I'll paint a window and put some turrets in as soon as it flys
