That first one looks like a Rutan Quickie -- unorthodox but apparently quite stable. I'm a great fan of unconventional models so that'd be my choice of the two.

I built a Quicky a long time ago. It was before mini, micro servos and it came out at 31 oz. Y ou needed to give it one heck of a throw to get it up to flight speeds. The only problem I had bui8lding it, the plans were done with metric sized wood. It did fly well though.
The All Star bipe was a kit from Ace way back when. I had a .15 in mine and it flew pretty good even though it had full sized gear in it, it would be a goodplane with micro gear and anything from 0.074 to .15 sized engine.

Yup. I'm kind of partial of the quikiee, I think it's pretty unusual. I'm bored of everyday planes. I'm just a little worried about the wheels being on the tips of the wing, I don't know how the plane will react to grass with the wing being so low to the ground. The plane might flip if the grass is too tall, and the wheels suck in the grass.
The all star uses the ace foam core wings, I could lighten them up by coring them out and use 9 gram servos, I would use my norvel .074 in either one. I will check out a few other planes and maybe a twin or two and post those as well, When I pick one I will do a construction post with pictures.

I had a Ace All Star Bipe years ago. Flew it with standard radio, elevator and ailerons only, powered by a Cox Med.09. Flew great, not hard to hand launch. Just make sure to either put a wood spar in the wing or like the kit plans use, strapping tape spanwise. I sold the plane after a few years of flying and the foam wings took on abit of a U shape... LOL. The buyer flew it for a few more years until the wings were U shaped.

So maybe if I core the wings and add a carbon fiber tube through the center of the airfoil. I could also lighten the sheeting by adding lightening holes down the sides. I already had a herr pitts special and I think that to add another bipe to my hanger would be a little too much. I need to add something classic or unusual to my colection.

The Quickie hand launchs very easy. It is a very strong design. The wing uses balsa ribs and spars and you sheet the top and bottom so it is very strong and pretty light. I did a few landing where I ran out of air way to soon and it hit hard on all 3 wheels and it just bounced. I was amazed at how hard of a hit it can take.

I am going to order the Quickee plans tonight, I think it's a no-brainer, I'm obviously stuck on it! Plus, I know that not many people have had one and no one at my club has a canard plane and will definatly draw some attention. Like I said, I'll post build photo's and progress as I go. What do you guy's think of that new hitec single conversion reciever with a mile range? I have to get one and try it out, for $37.00 I don't see why not, and in a flight pack with 3 hs-55's, it's only $74.00!

Planebuilder66,
Where are you getting the plans for these little gems?
I always liked the Quickie too and that little bip looks great.
A quickie with an .074 will be a super racer![X(]
With a light strong build, I would go with the .061. Heck, it looks like an good .049 will move it along.
