Non-Contest Contest Entry by Fireman
Well, I didn't think I would have a chance to finish an original design before the contest deadline, so I didn't enter...AGAIN. But, somehow (maybe cause this one's so simple) I did it, (don't worry, I don't expect a shirt). Well, without further adoo (whatever the heck "adoo" is anyway) here she is:
Vital Stats: 11 inch WS
around 72 squares
weight: 4.6 oz.
engine: TD .010
Havent' had a test flight yet. Maybe today. Only one problem with this plane so far. I can't come up with a good name for it to save my life! I'm open to suggestions.

Wow! Cool lil' bipe. Looks a lot like Dan McClain's "Gnat" from the Nov. 1964 RCM. No I don't have a photographic memory (I wish!) I recently boxed up and organized the magazines in my shop and ran across it. I'll have to go get it down and see if yer busted![sm=bananahead.gif]

Did two test flights this afternoon and all went great! The little bipe flew right out of my hand. It is a whole lot more stable than I thought it would be but not as fast as I expected. I guess it is because of the drag from the extra wing and the rather large fuse. The rudder could probably be dialed down a bit (it's got about 3/8 inch of throw) but the elevator seemed perfect. even the CG felt right on the money. I really couldn't have been more pleased with it. I hope it doesn't look too much like someone else's design; I really tried to make an original design.

FireMan, that is absolutely the cutest bipe I have seen in quite a while. Glad to hear that the flights went well. Love the paint scheme too. With the wood showing, there is a kind of understated 'classiness' about it.

Hey Brian-
WOW!!!
I love it, I have really been getting into the no covering/dope and paint thing lately. It looks really classy and I like being able to see the wood. As far as I'm concerned if you want to enter it in the contest you are more than welcome.
I can't imagine I'm the only one that feels that way either....
Contest Officials - May we have a ruling?
