Default Small Anderson Spitfire engines

I posted these on the CL forum, then realized that many folks here fly RC only. These are engines from the early 1950's (appx).
The first are three "Royal Spitfire" .065's, next is a close up of the lower right engine, then a Spitfire .049, and finally a Spitzy .045 in a CL "Little Bipe". The reverse pitch prop is just for show, of course.

Are you sure the Spitfire .049 is an Anderson engine? It looks suspiciously like ED in England made it to me.

How about another picture of the biplane. -It looks like something out of an Air Trails ad from the 50's...

DM:

Cropping and enlarging the 065 and 049 pictures, the "Spitfire" can be seen easily on the 065, and comparing it to the 049 you can see that the 049 also seems to say "Spitfire" on the side.

I have to agree about the looks of the cylinder on the 049 - looks a lot like the ED engine, aluminum and not the "Standard" steel finned Anderson.

Bill.

PS: As I stated in the c/l thread, my first successful piston powered model airplane flights were made using a "Spitzy" engine. wr.

George,

They were very popular. I think that Spitfire .049 was the first one to have a two piece radial tank and backplate. Cub .049X did too but I can't remember which was first. Later on Atwood made a two piece for his engines.

The plane is a built from plans Scientific "Little Bipe" designed by Walter Musciano.
