F1J folding prop
Page 133 of the Sept. Model Aviation mag shows a picture of an F1J power freeflight model that uses a 1cc Cyclone engine with a FOLDING prop. I'd be interested in trying a folding prop for 1/2A R/C use but haven't had any luck finding a supplier with Google. Anyone know anything about these?

RE: F1J folding prop
Here is a page about free flight small engines- some of them have folding props available from the engine maker.
... From the looks of things, in many cases it will be helpful to speak russian.. see for example the F engine ..

and on this page, which is a link on the above link.. there is a geared .15 with a carbon folding prop that is bee-utiful!!

So fine I gotta steal the pic..

Thanks mclintoc, that's quite a trail you got me started down. I'm not through yet, thought I'd better come back here and thank you before I get completely lost in the links, fasinating stuff.

RE: F1J folding prop
Those free flight props are pretty exotic and expensive- maybe the graupner line of folders from hobby lobby would work-
BUT they are for electric and will probably fall apart, so wear bomb-de-fusing suit and full-face shield if experimenting..
Some of them look like they could work in "texaco" mode with low compression and low nitro.. and how cool are the spinner hubs?

RE: F1J folding prop
Well if they can handle the +- 30,000 RPM of F1J you'd think they could stand up to Texaco type performance... On the other hand the power impulses might smooth out a lot at high R's. I'll look into it a lot more before I try anything rash.
