AP .061 ....Any good?????
G'day
i might buy an AP.061 when the hobby store gets it in and i was wondering weather you guys think it is an alright motor for my first "small" plane. i have designed the wings and have built them. (approx 28inch) wingspan, all i am going to have is 2 or 3 channels, aileron, elevator and maybe a thorttle servo. otherwise ill wire the throttle on full.

I have two AP .061 and they are good engines, not as powerful as Norvel but they run great. They will run about 1000 rpm less than a Norvel.
It is a conventional ABC engine, not all alum. as the Norvel. That means you break it in at a rich setting with lots of short runs.

I flew the prop off of my AP. It ran very well on YS 20/20 fuel. I was using the flexy Cox props and it had plenty of power. I had it on a Half Wit until an out of control flat spin into a tree sent the plane into a wire fence tearing the carb off. I am going to be getting 3 more in the near future.

I had two of these and had a hard time getting them to idle... I swapped them out for a norvel 061 wow what a diff... I like the carb on the norvel much more... more power better idle... imho.
