I ordered mine from Norvel's site and they told me the same thing. I got disgusted and cancelled my order. Then I found the same engine from Hobby Warehouse at the same price as 'direct' from Norvel.

Mine shipped in two days and had it in 4!

Fantastic! I just cancelled my Shopatron order an ordered an .074 from hobby-warehouse. I also looked at the Quantum site. I wasn't aware of either one. Thanks for the links.

Well that thrill didn't last long. Hobby-warehouse e-mailed me and said it was backordered 1-2 weeks. I called Quantum and they said it was backordered from the manufacturer in Russia. I am keeping the order with Hobby-warehouse mainly because I don't have a choice. This is a deja-vu from the shortage of .061 R/Cs a few months back. I don't have to have one right now so I can live without it for the time being.

URGENT -
Farmbuyer, I feel horrible for getting your hopes up and then Hobby Warehouse being out.
I did some calling around to some of the more major suppliers and all said they are out. Rumor has it Norvel is tooling up for a production of another model and wont be back to making the .074 RC Big Mig for several weeks (indefinately was the word they used). I'm guessing only the little guys and local retailers have them right now if at all.
HOWEVER - I called my Hobby shop I usually shop at and they have one in stock! Unfortunately its $60.00 plus $7.00 shipping - about $7 more than the cheapest I can find online. But it's worth considering... Let me know and I will give you their contact info.

You might try sig's online catalog. www.sigmfg.com It has a dealer network kinda like shopatron. Since they're the distributor now...?

No problem, don't feel bad. I really appreciate your effort. It seems this shortge is creeping across in a wave! I sent you a p.m.
Thanks,
Greg

dieFluggeister and Larry Driskill have come to the rescue. I got an engine (on order) for me and my father! These little Norvel engines are like a drug you just gotta have! Thanks for the assistance.

Larry,
Do you have any 074 parts? I accidentally got some dirt (or something) in mine and scored the cylinder wall. So I was going to order a piston/cylinder.
Thanks,
Duke

Me too I've recently ordered a 0.074, and I'm about to write an e-mail to shopatron, the info they give me is confusing!
The emails tell me one thing, but my account gives me like 2 different versions more. In conclusion, I have no idea of when am I going to get the engine![:@] Furthermore, they "had to split" my order in 2 packages, for some obscure reason (it's a 0.074 and a few spare pieces, is it so much volume?).
Sure, I'm going to ask a few questions. What I hate most: "the engine is expected to be delivered in 2-4 weeks", it's going to be a looong wait, I'm really anxious to know the cause.

JCaste,
I know that whenever Norvel split my orders up in the past, it meant that they had some parts in stock and others on backorder. They sent the stuff on hand in package one (and billed me for it) then sent the rest of the stuff later on when it came in (and then billed me seperately for that stuff). They also give you the option to cancel your backordered stuff which I did after I got on this forum. These guys here gave me two leads and I took advantage of both!

I hope you have better luck with your .074 than I ahd trying to get a .15 from my LHS via Sig. I waited 3 months before giving up. Apparently Sig is waiting on a container load shipment, receipt date unknown, so in the meantime we're stuck with ferreting out what may be residual stock at various places.
