RE: Too ugly?
So something along these lines... ? Maybe a single sheet of 3/32 for tail... with or without rudder. You know, it doesn't HAVE to have compound curves, maybe just a straight rounded section from fuse to tail, and tri-stock for the fuse box... [>:]
(Sorry 'bout the graphic- all I have is MS Paint, and a little down time.)
Edit: After looking again at my "artwork", I bet you really dont need the 4th and 5th formers... just use 1/8 sq. stock or skip them entirely. Simple=better?

RE: Too ugly?
You've got the idea. Those moments won't work for 1/2a though. And too many formers. You ought to get some CAD software. There's still some that mirror the old free Turbocad 2D.

RE: Too ugly?
Got autocad (an older version) at home, but I can't install anything here. I'm stuck with what I got for now. [&o]
Ah, I see... Just going to rely on the sheeting to hold the tail feathers?
Even more simpler = more better!

RE: Too ugly?
I was kind of thinking, horizontal stab on the bottom of the rear fuse, instead of on top cessna style... but then you gotta watch out for the ground. [X(]
Kind of wondering about the neg. incidence on the wing also, maybe that's just an illusion due to the symmetrical airfoil....
Landing gear optional? (of course.)

RE: Too ugly?
Ted, I'll get right on that. Should have it ready tonight. Look for a new thread. I'll try to remember and pm you.
cwrr5, there's no negative incidence. Promise! The horizontal will go into a slit in the side of the fuse or in place of sheeting beneath the vertical stab.
Landing gear? What's that? An empty fuel tank?
btw, it's a semi-symmetrical airfoil.

RE: Too ugly?
pt:
No time for speed now. Just finished cutting out the pieces and making a kit of the "190D9" (w/Ace wing, I figure it looks more like a D9 model than a TA152. Still need to make doublers (what do you think, ply or balsa - fuse is 1/8in balsa). Then will begin assembly. Hopefully, it will be ready by next weekend. Just received first Cox shipment, so I have some spare production engines for the D9. Also, I got some more stuff from Larry D. (thanx Larry). That reminds me, I need another lgt receiver - need to make order.
"More Cessna-like": Just as you said; use 1/4-1/2 inch triangle stock up-front, top and bottom of fuse. Continue bottom t-stock to behind wing shadow - box to tail. Now break the edges of the t-stock. I agree with you - it will make a round fuse similar to Cessna. It probably will look more like a Cessna than a Cessna.

RE: Too ugly?
PT,
Must be nice to have soft grass to land on! Stuff we got(back home) eats planes whole, and is a suitable substitute for razor blades.
Kind of curious how sand is for a landing surface, although wouldn't want to get any in the engine! Glad to hear about the incidence - thought that might get rather interesting in a hurry.

RE: Too ugly?
WAAA? 1/8 balsa fuse sides?! You don't need doublers with that much meat! At the most, vertical grain 1/16. You want to borrow some brass tubes to cut lightening holes?
cwrr5, we've got grass or runway to choose from. I can only imagine that the sand would get in everything. 'Specially if it's like the beach sand that we have...

RE: Too ugly?
Here's an update. Not too much left. The front has 1/2 triangle, the rear has 1/4. That should allow plenty of carving up front for a more "cessna" look.

Plans look good, anyone else planning to build one(or more)?

RE: Too ugly?
Oh yeah, thanks for the input! I feel better about this plan already. My gut feeling is that it'll be a pretty one! Who would build one if I put an Interceptor kit up as the prize for best looking a/c? We could put a poll up and allow voting.
BTW, an Interceptor is a .25-.46 delta. One of my BEST works.
