Default Cox Mantis

Well, heres a new problem, won this on the bay, its an ARF low wing,it has a balloon tank that is pre-installed and you cant get to the balloon! I can see it and feel the end of it,it feels like a regular balloon ,it holds air because I can blow into it but how long can it last? aside from it being 15+ years old,..well it does have an engine mount so I could use my teedee tank mount I guess,,, the approved engine is the .05 RC which I just so happen to have, it is R/E/T..pretty cool plane basically a low wing simple series with a plastic molded top half of the fuse,,on the back burner for now.......In one of these forums I forget, one guy said he pretty much builds a plane, flys it and then he's done with it and starts on the next one....I think I may be afflicted with that particular disorder.....heck I even PM'd TimW that I may even give the Sharkface another shot[X(]....Rog

I had one when C*x sold them off cheap. I pulled that bladder out like you would a chicken gizzard then put put a Norvel with a tank mount on.
Didn't like it.
A little later they appeared on the Norvel line up as the U-Can-2.
SIG sells them now for the .074

Edit... Went and dug the piece of do - dah out and added a pic

okay so I started on the Mantis, wing is together but I have to put in a tank because of the bladder problem,,they made the bladder part of the ARF thing so since I have to use a tank I thought I'd go with my norvel .061 the problem is I have to raise the engine up higher than the cox would be and put the tank under the shelf they made for the bladder, its going to be tricky enough as there is no access panel, I've never had any pressure problems with norvels ,,the top half of the model is plastic so I dont want to cut it out for the muffler, wondering if the tank location is gonna be too low to work? Yeah I know I'll have to run it to figure it out, just seems like the engine is too high and the tank to low, wonder if the setup will work on the bench AND in the air?...Rog

The top Plastic half is held on with a band of 1/2 inch Scotch tape... Just slit it and replace after you have made your mods to the shelf and other stuff.

Picture of top off and the old C/L tank installed
