Default Texaco Fuel

Quick question....I've built a Funaero Bookaty with a Cox Texaco .049. Best fuel for this engine? Standard 1/2A fuel?

Yep, it will run just fine on regular 1/2A fuel, 15-25% nitro, 20% oil or so, and at least 50% of the oil castor. I'd probably run 15%-20% for everyday flying. Low nitro or special fuels are used only for maximum endurance when actually competing in Texaco events. MJD

If you're running the big 8 inch wide blade props for the competition style of Texaco engine use then you want to use a lower nitro for lower head heating and longer run times. High nitro fuels have to run richer and therefore they reduce the run time. On a typical Texaco event flight this means by as much as a minute.

But if you're just flying for general fun with the standard 6x3 then the 20 to 25% fuel as mentioned above is the way to go.
