PSullivan,
Yes I have one of these engines (I had 2 at one time) and have found them to be reliable and user-friendly. I don't have experience with this engine on the planes that you mentioned though. I have found that the LA .10 is suited to run planes that run in the .061 - .074 arena where it helps to have a bit more weight on the nose for balance. I have a Piece O' Cake that probably would be a good match for this engine.
The LA .10 is better-designed (IMHO) that the LA .15 per the remote needle valve. The .10 is more protected...
I use Grish 7 X 4 props (white ===> Unbreakable) on mine. Primarily I have had this engine on "SPAD-variants" (corrugated plastic) and had lots of fun...
Hope that this helps...

I think you end up painting yourself into a corner when you buy a .10. They weigh 3/4s as much as a .15 and put out 2/3rds the power. For something like $5 more, you can get the .15 and just about double the array of potential planes to put it in, with enough power in reserve to put your project over the top if the situation calls for it. Same argument used to be about whether to have a Chevy 283 or 327, fuel economy VS power, the 327 option wasn't much more $ and the extra power was nice to have.

I was thinking the .10 was geting too big, .15 would be way over the top! these are .061-.074 planes. Norvel is not worth the stock problems, they are the only ones that I think are worth fooling with for an engine under .10... are there any other good .074? also, im not worried about opening up new fields with an engine, I want engines for the planes I already have
Do you not agree that would be over-much power/weight for the airframes I have?

I've seen quite a few kits sold as being sized for anything from .049 to .10 power, just barely able to flub around with .049 engines, and fly decently with .10 power, but to this day, I have never seen a .10 powered plane of any kind deliver much more than HO-HUM performance. One good example was the Global Baby Birdie, a pig with .049 TD, OK with OS .10, and more like a piped .60 sized pattern ship with the .15. I have noticed that .10s in like new condition are a dime a dozen on the auction sites, might be worth $15-20 to try one out if you're curious.

The Mini Ultra Stick is a fairly large, & heavy plane. I'd lean towards a .15 size engine for this one. Old enya 15-IV engines are dirt cheap on ebay. One of mine turns 15,350 with a 8x3 MAS, & 15,850 with a 7x5 MAS (10% nitro). I actually have a Cox Conquest on my Mini Ultra Stick. A little too much performance for my minimal flying capalbilities, but would probably be be fine for someone with average skills. .......... George K.

PSullivan,
I'm actually doing just that. I picked up a Mini Ultra Stick last week and I've got a older OS FP .10 I'm going to put on it. I expect it to come out weighing about 25oz ready to fly. After doing some research on the forum here, it looks like I should be be able to get around 12600rpm out fo the little .10 with a MAS 8x3 prop. With those numbers, it would generate roughly 30 oz of thrust. Given the better than 1:1 power to weight ratio as well as the low wing load (13oz/sqin), it should end up to be a nice little sport plane. Of course this is all just on paper, how it turns out, we'll see. I'm not going to have time for a few weeks to put the little MUS together, but when I do I'll let you know. I've got an ASP .12 as a back-up if the OS .10 doesn't cut it.
Regards,
Dave

RE: O.S. L.A. .10; anyone like?
Thanks for the info, everyone. I think I'm going to get a .10 and a .15 motor mount and see if the firewall is big enough for the .15 If it is, I am going to probably buy a .15 for MUS and .10 for the Jr. Falcon.
Thanks again
Also, the MUS takes very, very little time to put together thanks to the NGJS (No Glue Just Screws) method. It was the first arf I ever built and I got it together in 1 evening.

But where will it end. A ten is no longer 1/2A anyway, so if your going to get a .15, you may as well get a Nova Rossi .21

I have a OS 10 that was modified by drilling the carburator's venturi, just dissansembled the carb, heated the barrell to take out the temper and drilled with the next size drill, then the carb body was drilled.

I want to ask you guys one more thing before I order my .15. I can only fit a 2 oz. tank in theplane, this is going to give my like 5 minutes of flight time isn't it? but then again, it may not, I have no idea. Just need someone to give me a guesstament on the flight time with the O.S. 15 LA on a 2 oz. Sullivan slant tank.
Thanks

My Novarossi .15 weighs well over 9oz. I'd hate to see what the .21 weighs.
psul, I used to run 4oz tanks with the .15la's that I had. WAAAAY more than necessary! 2oz should be good for 8-10 minutes.
