Cox 5 fin glow plug
While inventorying my spare parts collection I came across a couple of 5-fin .049 glow plugs. What are these and what are they used for as compared to the "normal" glow plugs? I also found some "high-compression" plugs. Generally speaking how many copper washes need to be used with these? I seem to recal it's more than one and why would this be...if you wanthigh-compression why would you increase cylinder volume by adding washers?)
Thanks!,

RE: Cox 5 fin glow plug
The 5 fin is for use with the Cox .049 Texaco engines. They turn a larger prop at slower speed (typically a 7/3.5) and need the extra cooling.

Rob,
The high compression head has a "squish band" that provides a much smaller combustion chamber than the standard or Texaco plugs. You use a variable amount of washers to adjust firing time, which provides maximum performance for a given prop size and nitro content.
