NORVEL Update -- 10/16/06
I called SIG today to see if there were any engines in stock -- NO. I asked if any were expected. The gentleman on the phone said that SIG was to have received a shipment last month, but they didn't arrive. I did not ask about parts.
He also said that they have not been able to contact the company since then to determine the problem. The impression I got was that the Russians were simply not responsive or that they may have closed up shop and walked away (my impression, not his words).
After my conversation today, I'm not very optimistic about NORVEL's being restocked.
For you guys that have been tweaking the AP's, keep good notes and share the wealth. On second thought, using AP and wealth in the same sentence may be a poor choice of words.

Well, I guess that sums it all up for Norvel. Let's just assume they're out of business, and move on with our lives. The good thing is that Tower still carries the AP Wasp, and hopefully for a while. The brand will just have to pick up where Norvel left off. I've seen another thread where somebody wants to machine .049 parts and upgrades. Has anybody even considered coming out with a new engine? Are there any engineers here?

I also noticed that the CS web site is down. I hope they didn't toss it in, too. Maybe they're just rebuilding the site.

Edited to add that I Googled the domain name for the heck of it and it's changed to: http://www.cs-gro.com
Usually people use redirects, so that's why I thought it was gone.

RE: NORVEL Update -- 10/16/06
I am using an AP .061 and it seems very reliable so far with good throttle range for my aplication. On the other hand I have a near new Norvel .061 in a plastic bag soaked in castor that I might put on the bidding block or trade as I am not so stuck on the brand since I only recently got into the 1/2a game.
EDIT// For a demonstration of the AP Wasp .061 in action here is a video of my Dare Models Oreol .020 free flight converted to 4ch R/C Specs are 30 in wing span 5 in chord 140 sq in wing area (subtracted 10 in for fusalage) 22 in length 18 oz without fuel.
