.... over in Vintage in my thread there...
http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...501&forumid=70
It's meant for rudder only in it's present form but I was looking ahead when I did the plans and an elevator stabilizer is already shown beside the rudder only stab.
Power is going to be a Black Widow bottom end with a Medalion RC top end so I have some options during the first few flights to cut the power back if things aren't Okie Doaky with the rudder only trim.
I've learned SOME degree of caution in my 37 years of modelling....
I really want to see the faces of the "newbies" when I pull up into the first loop using rudder only.......

Update photos on the Mini Reb vintage type for rudder only. Or it can have an elevator for the faint of heart. A Black Widow with a Medalion RC cylinder and restrictor is going in the nose. I may be crazy enough to try flying rudder only but I'm going to have a safety fuse to hold back the engine just in case.
First view is the typical look down....
5 1/2 oz at this point. A trifle heavier than I would like but it uses a LOT of wood. I'm going to go back into the plans and trim the wood sizes a little from 1/8 to 3/32 for the sides and use formed sheet on the nose areas instead of triangle stock and thick sheet blocks. The landing gear and servo mounts still need to be done but other than that it's all done and ready for covering. I'm hoping for about 16 oz after the Jap tissue and dope, controls and Hitec 555, micro servos and 225 mah batteries go in it.
Next view is sitting on the birthing scales.....

Actually it's hobby shop wood. But I pick it quite carefully. From lots of years of using contest grade I figure the lighter hobby shop stuff is about 6 to 8 lb/cuft. Not bad.

Very Very Fabewlouse!!!!
Great lookin' plane Bruce.
Talk about craftsmanship. Look at the fit of wing to fuse, and the curved edges in the center section sheeting and you will know what I mean.
Can't wait to hear how it flies. Keep posting updates!

Thanks guys.
The pulse set is hors de combat I'm afraid so it's Hitec 555 and micro servo for me.
To make up for this modern junk I'm putting in I'm going to cover it with REAL SILK on the wings and stab with colored jap tissue for the fuselage
I'd forgotten that I bought some packs of silk a few years back for an Old Timer gassie....
Ah..... the aroma of butyrate.....
