Default Cox Pee Wee .020

Does anyone know if the stock fuel tank will allow a plane to fly inverted? I am thinking about building a Mini-Bell. I don't want to bother though, if the fuel system will not allow it to be flown inverted.

No, there is no clunk in the tank, usually the fuel line is pointed either down or to the right side of the tank for control line use, you can loop or do a quick roll, but no fly inverted..unless you use an external tank that is plumbed through the metal tank...Rog

I can't see you doing a lot of aerobatics with a peewee anyway. Maybe a TD 020, but that's a whole different monster. If you really want to try it, I can make you a super-light balloon tank adapter. You'll have to drill a hole either in the backplate or tank though.

Ages ago I closed the backplate holes and drilled a Pee Wee tank, venting it like a control line tank with a couple of aluminum tubes. Since there is really no room in the tank to put in a clunk all I got was a bit less fuel loss during limited aerobatics.

With today's small radios a Pee Wee .020 Mini Bell with ailerons and elevator might be a lot more fun than the rudder/throttle one I built in the 80s. Less or no dihedral and a semi-symmetrical airfoil would help a lot, but a Pee Wee certainly won't bore holes in the sky.

An after thought -- if you build a Mini Bell you might want to think about providing a small cowling to restore the good looks of the Goldberg Senior Falcon to this model of a model.

Thanks for the info. I think that I will stay with the Norvel size planes. I have a Jr. Falcon almost completed and 2 HalfWits that fly amazing well.

Go for it.

Here's a video of an mini Jr. Falcon (Basically the same thing as a Mini Bell). It's electric, but about the same power as a PeeWee.

I've attached a couple of pictures of a little aerobatic plane with a PeeWee .020. I've also attached a couple of illustrations of external tanks.

Do you have any stills of your mini Jr. Falcon that you could post?
