.049 Fan Blades

RE: .049 Fan Blades
It isn't cox but, kamdax makes a fan unit with the norvel 061 that is very light weight and delivers lots of thrust. It also has a great idle and throttle response. If you want to fly 1/2a ducted fan that is the way to go. I love the early attempts at 1/2a DF, my favorite model I have in my collection is a Midwest Skyhawk with a RK049. But I would never try to fly that one, too little power and lots of reliability problems. I have a second one with the Kamdax unit and it flys like a .60 or .90 sized DF, just smaller.

The Kadmax is a good unit, I've read alot about it. I was just wondering because I have plans for the older Berkeley Models ducted fan kits and wanted to stay with the original design build up of them, and instead of using the stamped aluminum impeller, go with something a little more "dependable" and "safe".

RE: .049 Fan Blades
any way to use a snipped cox 5x3 3blade or the little 020 3blade?
... maybe stack them on a long screw? Play with the degrees of advance between them for least interference
any of this been tried (ok, everything has been tried, I mean recently)

RE: .049 Fan Blades
heck, one could put a 1/4" shim between the two cutdown 3blades on the long propscrew, and place a stator in the duct,
make a 2stage blower: propeller-stator-propeller
ok, just crazy talk, but it would be cool to show folks even if it didnt make any power
