Homemade torque rod connectors? Help!
I just bought the last set of 1/2A aileron hardware at Hobbytown USA and one of the plastic connectors that threads onto the torque rod is defective.
Anyone have a good method of fabricating torque rod connectors? I'm tal;king about the piece that threads onto the torque rod and attaches to the servo pushrod.
Thanks, David

Thanks, vic, I may end up doing it that way. The onlt drawback is that I won't be able to adjust the throw at the torque rod end.
I filled some 4-40 connectors with epoxy. I'll drill them undersize and tap them for the 2-56 rods. There isn't really any up and down force on these things, so, the epoxy might work.

For rod adjustment I put a series of 3 Z-bends creating a "V" shape in the rod to allow for minor tweaks.
The glue idea seems a little ify to me.
I have also done the tube thing but have had it split during the flattening process. It also makes a the rod too tall unless you want to do the soldering close to the wing. Good enough idea most of the time tho.

RD, those fittings are called aileron horn brackets in the SIG book. I have forced yellow nyrod into those fittings, wicked them together with thin ca, then trimmed the excess nyrod flush with the nylon horn bracket. All that is left to do is run a tap into the nyrod sleeve and off you go. I think the nyrod is a press in fit with the brackets that are made for #6 hardware.
