Anybody want to guess what it will go for? I'm not a collector, but from what I've seen in the past, I will put my guess at something north of $300. It's at $124 with 4 days to go. OK. my guess is a real stretch, but what do you think?
Just for the fun of it,
Al

Hey Al. it wouldnt surprise me if you are right...it is a rare engine...the TD .010's and .020's are fetching pretty good $$ now..so do they get collectorish and raise the prices or do they go obsolete and drop in price...?Has anybody else heard/seen of the OS .049,,I am pretty sure I saw one somewhere..but it didnt look like that engine Tim showed..Rog

Hi Rog, well in the last couple of hours it has now topped $400. So much for my (what i thought was) a far fetched guess on the high side.
Anyone else want to predict a final going price? I'm out of the running now!

I'm willing to bet that it'll go for well over $1,000.00. People on EBay can bid like fools.

Rather than OS making .049's, what ever happened to the Enya .049?

Why not have a manufacuter with so much experience make them as opposed to a company that dropped them?...Rog

I'm going with Norfolk. I bet it goes for considerably more than 1G.

Yep, a run of only 70 engines made by a company with a great reputation for quality, a large product line, and a long time in business. This has the makin's of a $$$$ collectable.

Not saying this to dis this particular $Bay seller in any way, but his auctions often have a reserve price and I don't think I have ever seen him give anything away...

With over a million trust funded and silver spooned millionaires roaming our society who never had to work and whos' childrens' children will never have to work.......it is no wonder that there is such a bidding war over an engine that puts out 2/10ths of a horsepower. I don't care who makes it.
BTW, the number of the super rich is growing exponentially as well as the number of the super poor......where does that leave the middle class? I think we should only pity the fool whos values are so out of whack that he thinks this little engine is worth what he pays his illegal alien housekeeper per month.

I agree it is probably worth over 1G ( to someone, not me) but my money says the reserve is going to be more than what will be bid on this go-round.
The owner of this knows what he has. I have a feeling he is wanting even more than the average over-bidder.

This is the second one of these being sold on fleabay. The last one went for either 1300 or 1600USD or so. It is certainly a collectable. And with only 70 produced, value will only likely only increase. NIB Cox Venoms have sold for up to 700USD or so, and there are 1000 out there.

This is the same engine but was cancelled. 280085063918

NIB Norvel .074 are going near $100. Where else can you get one?

$980.00 was a bit much for ebay to ignore for shipping.[sm=lol.gif]

One Norvel .074 for $93 doesn't set the going price yet. If there was maybe 10 of them over the last 60 days or so then ok. But I dare to say that if another was listed it wouldn't go for that much.

Patrick,

I thought the shipping was alittle high too!!!

Later,
Tim

I think we can assume the reserve is 980, somehow I didn't catch that was the shipping price in the cancelled listing. I couldn't find an item number for the previous engine, but it was early January, or December.

There aren't many people willing to give up .074's if they have them.

Dan theres a thread about " norvell .074"..Rick W. is talking about making heads for the Nelson plugs if there is enough interest,,if dad has the tap which I doubt, I'm pretty sure I could make one myself.....Rog

CPC,
You can still get the Enya .06 pretty easily from
richmondrc.com in Canada. It weighs 3 1/4
ounces w/o the muffler, a hair over 4oz with it.

I know, I saw that this morning. If anything, there are a lot interested onlookers.

Now, if I was independantly wealthy I would buy this thing for whatever price it took and then build a plane, probably an Old Timer like Rudder Only and fly the thing.

Really belongs in collections somewhere but I still think $1000 is well over inflated - after anything is only what someone is willing to pay for it!

cheers, Graham in Embrun near Ottawa Canada

Looks like I missed the mark with my predition. Someone really does want this. Someone is also going to take it home, it seems.

Sure is purty...

For Norvel .049, .06 and .074 and also Wasp .06 and Cox .049 .051, and Brodak/CS .049 and .06, if you have the skills and a few tools, you can make all the heads you need to take turbo plugs.

I'm revisiting this thread just to post pics of my idea of a new 1/2A engine so that I can send OS this link to suggest that they might consider making this engine. Can't believe I said that with no commas.

Anyway, OS, if you're listening, lots of guys need you to make something with the kind of quality you're famous for. Just make SURE the throttle has an adjustable airbleed.

That's, that's, well that's an interesting looking engine. I see a lot of new and old Norvel parts stuffed in there, but I'm drawing a blank on the crankcase and carb.

PS - That was a good intro sentence!
