Default Northwest Model hobby Expo

Just a reminder for those that want to go next weekend.
Hours are:
Saturday 9:00 to 5:00
Sunday 9:00 to 3:00
Cost is $6 for one day and $10 for both. Children under 10 are free with paying adult

So, who all is going besides me? I'm curious to see how much has changed, both better and worse

Yes early, but not as early as when it was in Puyallup.

Should be a decent turn out with all this rain. BF, make sure you have new wiper blades before coming down here!

Yeah that's for sure.[sm=drowning.gif]

I'll be going with 6 other guys from our club. Who else is going? What about the rest of the Washington crew?

Shall we meet somewhere? Maybe we should exchange cell numbers.

Whatever you do, tie up Mel and don't let him come. I want to at least have an opportunity to look at the COX and NORVEL parts before they are scarfed up.

So, what did you guys think? IMO, for the first time out, it wasn't too bad. I wasn't too impressed in the swap meet. They needed more room and, unfortunately, over half of the stuff was overpriced or junk. CP, did you find the one guy with 1/2A stuff?

It wasn't too bad. Not many great deals to be had though. I guess the internet is killing this sort of stuff.

I picked up a pair of .020 wrenches for a buck.

We saw his table, he still had some old crusty Cox stuff there. We saw a couple of Atwood .049 powered mouse racers, 10-12 inch span.......they look like fun. The guy who was demonstrating Hobby Lobby DF units showed a combo that weighed an oz and put out 30 ozs of thrust. A pair of those could make alot of difficult scale projects feasible. I found some nylon props for .15 combat, some Perfect tin tanks and a little spun aluminum spinner for 1/2A. There was a .60 sized pattern kit with a fiberglass fuselage for $10, that would have been a treasure for a lot of modelers 15 years ago, but in todays' ARF society, it was just a junky relic. There was a battle bot that we saw that looked big enough to unload a semi at a loading dock. The 500 bldg. had some nice chainsaw engine powered warbirds, just a set of wheels and retracts would blow my hobby budget for a year! The hit of the show might have been the candle powered boats that were made out of shaving creme cans. The heat generated drew cold water in a U shaped tube and ejected steam with enough force to propel the boat. It could also run on cooking oil.

Hopefully, the organizers learned some things this year. It would be great for next year if they get a Futaba, OS, Great Planes or similar booths set up

I almost picked up one of those steam boats for the kids, but then had visions of a trip to the hospital. I think I'll wait until they're a little older.

I should have bought one of those putt-putt boats too. But these days I pretty much take up the whole bathtub on my own... Besides I spent most of my money over at the great deal place just opposite the putt-putt boat booth. More servos, lipo packs and a new brushless and controller.... I think I may be getting allergic to castor oil....

It was sure a lot quieter and smaller than some of the big Puyallup shows we've had in years gone by. But I'm giving the organizers some serious kudos for pulling this out of the outhouse at pretty much the last minute. I think they did a pretty darn good job given the timing.

Very much so, but like any other event, now it's time to see how they can make it bigger and better for next year.
