..tried that. The slop is too much even so, the needle wiggles like a banana in a tailpipe.

Haha, sorry can't help laughing, that picture is quite true.
Mine only runs at about 1/2 turn though, so then the bana is quite far in....

Have you tried with a small enough tube so that it has some bite onto the threads of the needle?

Not that I'm questioning your ability to fit a tube in anyway, just thought I would put up a picture of mine with a tube on it....

1/2 turn out?!? Maybe I'll give it another go then...nah, I'll stick with the MP Jet. It works like a REAL engine and the quality is light years ahead.

I'm getting too old and cranky to fart around with poorly engineered crap anymore.

I agree about life being too short to mess around with junk, but I'm impressed that Mr. Cox has taken his CS and obviously gotten some fun out of it. Then you have some guys like Andy who have fun with solving what is wrong with X brand engine by remanufacturing it completely, then telling us that its basically an OK engine if you do $2000 worth of work to it .

I keep eyeballing this Brodak .049 MkII I picked up a while back. I haven't tried to run it yet, but it sure seems nice. Shame it has no muffler or throttle, but I'm looking at it and slowly convincing myself I machine the venturi bit out for a brass barrel. Figuring out a clamp-on muffler won't be problem o'course.

Another thought....plugging the venturi completely and replacing the plastic backplate with a reed valve assembly.
