From: Wichita, KS,
I just know that with all the experienced scratch builders out there that someone has now, or has built a pattern style 1/2A plane. I would like to see any pics or hear about such a plane.
Hey Wild Fred, I'm back. Did you get my e-mail. I can't send you any money for the V-tail 1/2A Ferroplane if I don't know where you is!

See the January 2003 issue of Model Aviation for Robelen's construction article of the Mini-Kaos. Classy looking little plane. Another idea is to do a conversion of the SR X-250 kit.

See the latest issue of flying Models for Randy Rnadolph's column. Pictured is my 1/2A Tsunami. This was built form the original .40 size plans. Exact scaled down, no flat bottom airfoils, stretched wings etc. I tried to keep it at 14 to 16 ounces for a Norvel .061 but at 20 ounces, it needs the .074. Still, it flys fast, smooth, will do everything including knife edge forever. It explodes off the grass on take off and vertical is unlimited.
If you get the plans, shrink them down to 250 squares, keep it to 14 ounces, you'll have an excellent 1/2A pattern ship. If I did it again, I'd eliminate the sheeting on the wing, and fuse, make a lighter canopy, and use Litespan for the covering. Some lighter nose blocks would have helped although I did use contest wood everywhere else.
If you want the plans, send me a PM and I'll get them out to you.
