Default quite possibly one to be careful of...

I was doing a search on the net for the FORA .020 engines, that I have done a little work on to try to get them to run up with a TD.020.
i came across a seller on ebay with them claiming they run better than a cox with the cox 4.5x2 or apc prop.
I have my serious doubts about the valitity of these claims, as the engines barely run without re-work.

I would hate anyone to be taken in by someone who may not care less.

J.M

P.S if anyone does want to know how to re-work them, do a search for the thread on the topic and or get in contact with me. I`d gladly help.

Thanks' for the Heads Up.
I've seen these engines and to be honest, been tempted.
But somehow they have always managed to elude my sensibilities and pocket book

Rob,
Larry Driskil got a few as prototypes two or three years ago, possibly before anyone else.
While they are AAC or ABC, there are a number of issues. The main one I think, is that the port design is really bad, making the scavange cycle rather ineffective.
There is a way to make it better, but it involves fundamental re-porting... on an 020... hence the tolerances are so small that farting inadvertently while you are at it can mean the difference between a 20K engine and a 22K engine... or worse [X(]

If you notice, the engines sold on Fleabay use a Cox .020 head rather than the one that is used on the engines Larry had. My guess is that Fora is making these engines, or made a small run of them and is selling them overseas at contests etc. I doubt that they are any better than the ones Larry had given their original reluctance to do it to Larry's liking.

I think you are right. `tis all a shame really.

Anyone selling these things without an honest description of them is going to find themselves looking bad.

Perhaps. For some of us it just comes with age. Sort of like venting...'cept you can hold your thoughts. [] [&o]
