The voting page on the design contest site will be up on the 16th.

Would you guys prefer to have the vote totals displayed so we can see a the contest as it progresses or should we have them hidden until the voting has completed at midnight of the 22nd?

The way it would work is that when you go the the vote page you get the voting options without seeing the current status. Every time you load the page after you have voted you would see the current results.

What should we do about those who haven't completed their projects? Should I just leave the entries "as is" and allow people to vote for planes that aren't completed?

Has anyone heard from Prole lately? I haven't seen a post from him in a while and he hasn't updated his page since April 14th.

The rest of you who haven't completed yet better get a move on. If you have done test flights, please update your page with the results so that voting can commence on Friday.

Should I leave 1 days grace for people to update their page on the contest site, or should I go ahead and start the voting and disable updates Friday morning?

BIpe, thanks for all your hard work on behalf of the contest. we all really appreciate it. I think your ideas have been right on, and the contest page is great.

personally, I think friday should be the opening of voting. The choice to cut off updating the pages is really up to you, i dont think it really matters if people are still able to post new pictures or not, once the voting starts.

Thanks again for the great website.

Yup, what Digger said. I was sorta hoping to get some video soon and would like to get it up on your site for others to see. I hope all the other entrants are planning on sending video so that we can see what these things look like in flight. The unstable weather all over the country is getting in the way of having video up before the deadline.

Default Thanks!

I concur with Digger. Thanks indeed for hosting that site, plus the coding needed to put all this together and make it work!

I'd say, Yes, open it up today for voting. We've extended it a month, but then, I got mine done, so that may not be fair to the gents that are weather delayed...

Perhaps start the voting, but still allow updates?

Heck, I don't know....

I concur - great job on the contest website and greatly appreciated.

My vote is to wait until Friday, or the weekend, for voting to start. That way people can finalize their videos, posting pictures, etc. so voters can check prior to voting.

- I obviously will not make the 15th to have my plane completed and flown (lost 2-3 weeks due to an impending layoff and associated job search), so I expect to be out of the voting process.

I will however finish the plane (hopefully this weekend) and post pics on the contest site and RCU. Also hoping to fly it very soon.

Prole got a new job a couple of weeks ago and is spending so much time at it that he (as of 5-10) was concerned he wouldnt be able to finish his own plane... thats the last I pm'ed him. I had my pics put on CD which I should be picking up tonight.. and had planned to mail to prole so he could put them up (basically I am way behind) so i guess I will get pics up on the forum sometime somewhere, I didnt finish so theres no point in putting them up to vote on...Rog

I will go with the flow and whatever you guys want but I would like to see the running tally so I can see who's in the running. Its neat to watch I think, but also being surprised at the end is also cool (for the winners, anyhow :stupid: )

OK, the voting is ready to go online tomorrow. The contest site wont be available for updates when I switch it over so as not to cause confusion for the voters. If you need to make any updates after the voting has started, email me and I can manually make the changes for you.

Here's how it will work.
The page will be split into to frames. The frame on the left contains a list of the entries so people can review them. On the right frame is the voting. To vote a visitor simply clicks on the the button next to the plane he/she likes and hits vote, they will then be shown the results.

Contestants should click on the "Contestants login here." link. After logging in, you will see 2 additional drop down boxes for your 2 and 3 point votes. You can't vote for your own plane in the for the 2 or 3 point votes. Once you have selected a plane in each of the drop down boxes and from the bottom list, click vote and you will be taken to the results.

FlyinRog.
Even though you dropped out of the contest, you paid so I think you should be allowed to vote. If you have any pictures or information about your design, post them to your page.

Regardless of who wins, I think that this has been a great experience and a lot of fun. I've enjoyed seeing the designs that people have dreamed up and everyone from the first time scratch builder to the "old pros" has shown what makes this hobby great.

Thanks Soarrich, for the wonderful idea.

Good luck everyone!

PS

After the voting is over I will be making it a permanent, static site. Hopefully this will be the first of many to come.

Default Sounds great Andrew

Thanks so much to Soarrich for the idea, Andrew for the website work, and everyone else who entered or even thought about it.

I have seen more neat concepts, examples of top craftsmanship, creative ideas, and enthusiasm here than just about anywhere else I have looked in the hobby.

Watching everyone's entries take shape has been an absolute blast.

Good luck to everyone!

(One other question for Andrew- is the voting Florida certified...?)hehhehhehe.

Sorry, I'm on Pacific time. When it's tomorrow where you are it's still today here.

The voting page is now open for business. If anyone has any updates they want to make, send me an email or pm.

Hey Andrew, when I click on each airplane description, my IE6 is telling me the page is unavailable. Is there a broken link? When I go to the contest website, it drops me right into the vote page ok, with the drop-downs, but I can't look at the planes from there...
