RE: Carolina 1/2A Crew Fly-In and Reedie Race
Thanks.
No kit or plans, I just winged it. I've got another set of cores which I'll make as a foreward swept wing.
Here's my build thread:

Well, fiddlin with glow engines all weekend,(had a gummed up dry rotted .46 in a stick I just got running today) The last time I messed with the quik shot .049, I had cobbled together a reedie from a product engine and a golden bee...it was running good but I tweaked it too much and she locked up, now weeks later after some cool down time and oiling it loosened up and now gone through 2 tanks and waiting for cool down to run the last tank for today, its not as strong as I would like, (not singing yet) but if it fires right up, thats a lot of the battle....then later in the week comes flight testing....Rog
Oh I got my roaring twenty .020 peewee and my wee stick that went lecky thats going back to .020 peewee with throttle ring..

Rich, if a Yankee from NJ shows up down there with a tailess plane and wins.....you might need some ''backup'' to make it out of there with the trophy.....[]

I'm going in disguise, I bought a pick up, put RC Cola, #28, Bass, and Toby for President stickers in the window, I'm also trying to grow a Mullet.

I feel sorry for the next guy that walks up on the crew with a mullet![X(]

I guess if Rog is man enough to admit it, I can too!
I'm a . . . I am a . . . I was a . . . Massachusetts Yankee.
Whew, that wasn't easy but I feel better now.
P.S. My wife says that even though I've lived in the South for over forty years, married a Virginian (also over forty years ago), and raised two of the best Southern belles ever - I still sound like a D$%& yankee.
Well, all I can say is, "I ain't leavin'"!

EDIT:// Note that "%^$&#" is just a space filler for the adjetive or explitive of your choice that will not offend you. If you are offended... then you must be one of those %^$&# Californians[:@]

Isn't Vic a transplant too? I'd check his papers just to be sure.
He spends so much time practicing for the Reedie Race with those .40 sized racers....he's got to be the man to beat.
Rich, don't forget the mud flaps with the chrome girlies and the barbed wire license plate frame.
A mullet's a good idea to blend in, but don't go overboard or the alpha-mullet-dude in the crew might take it as a challenge to his mulletudiness.

Yeah, I'm from Michigan and my kid doesn't have an accent either. But I'll drive over you with my 4X4, shoot my gun, and smash a longneck bud bottle on a temple if pushed the wrong way.
Check out this vid from the field the other day.

Yep, (a southernizm) we take frequency control seriously down here!
If the cannon is still alive for the reedie event I'll be sure to put it in the truck. This means I'll have to monitor the grain count to be sure not to exceed barrel strength. [sm=bananahead.gif]

RE: Carolina 1/2A Crew Fly-In and Reedie Race
For a couple of decades now my wife has made (sometimes unkind) comments about the (miniature avaition) company I keep. If she only knew how "unusual" some of these guys are! Ay Carumba!
1. Most of the time we use a whistle to signal the start of our R/C combat bouts - but I like Vic's cannon solution better since it will ensure that no one can say, "I didn't hear it."
2. Back when we had eleven Zagis in our club it was a lot of fun for a while but eventually racing and pseudo combat interest flagged. So we tried using a sling shot to fire paint balls at them on low passes. Hits were rare and the paint balls never broke against the soft foam. However, now that I understand that "some" people are building vacuum-bagged, fiber-glassed wings perhaps it is time to resurrect the paint balls test?

No more projectile fireing after the initial tests it was determined that for public safety it was a bad idea. It's amazing what a .75 ball bearing will do to a row of dumpsters and a 55 gallon drum full of water.

The first live shot is an eye opener hey

PS mine was only a 3/8 bore

That's great!
When I was a lad, the boys were always involved in out door projects like that. Building soap box racers, tree forts, underground club houses, rope swings over creeks, some hunting and fishing. The girls back then didn't do much, they mostly sat inside and played with dolls.
Nowadays, neither the girls OR the boys do much except play indoors...rain or shine. Almost like chickens in a coop their whole young lives.
2 of the most ambitious projects I ever saw way back then was some 15-16 year olds building a Briggs & Stratton powered hover craft and also a Boy Scout Ferriswheel built out of lashed together timber.
