Sounds like you're leaning every which way. I'm partial biplanes, so naturally I like the Pitts, but the Cherokee is probably Herr's best looking scale model.

I got a few of the Herr kits and although they are well cut, mine came with some pretty heavy wood. I assambled the Cloud Ranger but sold the others.
I got a Mini Ultra Stick ARF that is much lighter.

Mike Lee at Sig says the latest shipment of balsa is some of the best they have ever seen, hope to get a kit from it soon.

I built a Herr Cherokee. Converted to electric, not too much problem with balance, but it does help to use 2mm CF rods instead of the steel ele and rud pushrods. I am only pushing 150 watts peak through an Hyperion Zs2209-25, APC SF 8x6, and 3S 2000 lipos. I get an easy 15 minute flight and have 3.80 to 3.84 v/cell after landing. It is so quiet you can't hear it after it gets 100 feet away. Sort of eerie.
I made a sheeted leading edge mod. Nice. That thing is so sure and quiet I can only say you have to try it that way.

Having built a few of the Herr models I can say they are all great...I havent built the Mustang, But I'm finishing a Herr AT-6 Texan right now and my advice would be to go with the cloud ranger if youre gonna have a .10 I think the warbirds are better suited to be light 2-channel .049.061 planes....I'm having a hard time deciding whether the pitts or the cherokee with added ailerons will be my next choice. Definitely easy smooth builds all the Herr's I've had. Todd

There are so many options, the question is what kind of flying do you like to do, or would like to do. If you don't already have a "stick" I can recommend that. There is for instance the "Chea-pass" (can be obtained from TowerH), I haven't flow that particular one myself but I like that style of plane. They are very versatile for just messing about doing inverted flying, stall turns, touch and goes etc. and well suited for an everyday beater. One thing they don't do well is knife edge, or maybe it is just me...
Here is my latest stick style plane, it is an ARF from topmodel called topstick. It turned out a little too well behaved for my taste but flies fine with an Enya 09 in the front;
