Norvel Engine Troubles
Pat:
Sounds like you're finally getting there.
Unless you have a reason to pull the cylinder barrell out of the crankcase you should never change the base gasket.
Once the engine has been run, the piston will have worn to match the cylinder, and if you take it apart you will never get it back in exactly the same position, and you will increase the piston/liner wear.
If you fill the engine with dirt it can be thoroughly cleaned by removing the backplate and carb only - don't pull the cylinder barrell unless you break a rod, or similar.
Bill.

Norvel Engine Troubles
Thanx for all the info. I cant wait for my Simple 400 to get here. I am really looking forward to getting that kit built. First time building with balsa. Also my first time covering. I cant wait. I just hope the engine mount in the Simple 400 is made for gas. All the other SIMPLE series airplanes, the warbirds etc, they have a mount MADE for glow engines, but the simple 400 looked like it didnt have a glow mount.. :~ Thanx again -Patrick
PS- Why do they call it Motor Oil, when it really goes into your engine??
