1/2a VS Park Flyer?
Can somone define the difference in a 1/2a plane, over a park flyer? I see this as a electric powered ( Park Flyer ) 1/2a plane, without the glow engines. Is there more to it, it seams the weight of the batterys would require a much lighter construction to allow for the same flight as a glow 1/2a . Perhaps I am mistaken, I always thought 1/2a was a "park flyer" before this class was named.

1/2a refers to the size of the engine (.033-.061 I think) with the most popular one being .049 ...park flyers are generally made of foam and would not stand up to the power of a glow engine, and you cant/shouldnt fly a glow powered plane in a park..Rog

1/2a VS Park Flyer?
There are 1/2A planes that are converted to electric and park flyers converted to glow fuel. I saw an Ace Simple 400 at the fly-in last week that had an electric motor, but didn't see it fly. The electrics that I saw seemed pretty slow compaired to a 1/2 A plane.
I remember years ago reading an article about a .10 size plane to fly from a football field, but that would not be a park flyer.
I would think 1/2 A planes should not be flown in a park area with people all around, so I wouldn't call them park flyers.
