Here is an update. I did go with a custom lipo mount. I machined a few Al 90 degree channel pieces (4) and two Al crossmembers. I mounted the pieces so that they would be as low on the chassis as possible without contacting the front axle or links. The lipo mount runs parallel to the chassis and is flush with the bottom of the chassis plates up front (at an angle).
This is overkill, but that's ok. I could have machined it cleaner and painted/polished the pieces, but why bother right?
