Default Help with K&B please!

The piston baffle belongs opposite the exhaust stack like you have it. But being as it looks like the whole body of the engine is turned wrong? (exhaust on wrong side) Who knows about the rod? The engine will run with the exhaust on the other side. I may be all wrong but judging by the age of the carb on this engine, the exhaust was on the other side. Also the exhaust stack is very short on this engine which leads me to believe it's a fairly late model. (somewhere in the late 80's or early 90's) Early (Green head) K&B's had the exhaust as shown but the green ones rarely had a removable front bearing housing. The sleeve could also be facing wrong? I cannot see it. The best way to judge this is to see if the exhaust port in the sleeve aligns with the exhaust port in the crankcase.

As far as the rod goes, it's kinda late now but they had several different designs. About the only way to tell now is to look for a chamfer on the I.D. of the big end. This chamfer goes towards the counter weight. Next time, first, mark your rod so you know which way it goes?

Good luck,

Jim
