Non of us are Electronics whizzes but do you suppose that ''make sure the trainees transmitter is in the PPM mode'' is a factor when the trainees Tx is a dedicated 2.4 with no option for PPM? I can't imagine that it is since it's powered off.
For information 2.4Ghz only transmits on PPM, its only if you have a module type Tx that you will get the option to change the Frequency to differnt transmission types for different modules.
