The actual cost of the AMA insurance is about $8 per member. That is a small portiion of the dues. Important, but actually one of the smallest of the AMAs expenses.
So the 50 extra dollars is for what...promoting science and education about RC? Did you get that insurance cost info from AMA docs, if so something smells fishy.
I would even be willing to pay 20$ annually for the insurance if it did what I need it to do, if not, it is of no use to me. This reminds me of things much like other insurance and garb we do not need that is sort of forced on us these days.
BTW, the extra 12$ would handle all administration issues with the policy.
