Default RE: $5 airplane

ORIGINAL: cutaway

Used Skyraiders with LA's are a dime a dozen.

Don't get your hopes up on this being a big score on resale. $5 for a running LA ain't a bad deal, but the airframe itself has little value unless you plan to fly it. You'll probably have more $$$ invested in new covering and time than you'd get for the airframe.
But everyone knows that ever flew one, it's a great flying plane, and if it were mine, I'd sell it in parts, always getting more that way. LA 40/46 $35, airframe $40, flight pack $30. Even if they talk you down a little, you're ahead. I'd have patched it with packing tape and went flying that afternoon, if it was mine. It's a nice plane, don't get discouraged. Covering is $12.99 a roll at a LHS, and you'll have plenty left over for the next project. Nice to get some free too!

I picked up a kit built ACE 4-40 biplane at an RC swap meet a couple years back. It flies great. Without negotiating, I paid $20. Saito 65 added separately. My kid stepped on the stabilizer last week, but that's OK, it's only a toy airplane sitting in the living room. I guess I'll start needed repairs now too. Thanks for posting your work!
