RE: DLA 112 ???
Hurrah! I agree with you! However I believe there is too much emphasis put on HP. As I said before, the main importance is amount of thrust generated. RPM's + thrust + cylinder head temps mean more to me than HP. HP can be measured in so many different ways and can in some cases be misleading. Case in fact: Once upon a time long ago Johnson Outboards rated their outboards at the prop. However later on they did not rate at the prop but by the engine. WAY big difference. Just like a car or truck, the engine may be rated at 300HP, but what is the actual brake horsepower or horsepower delivered to the pavement, hence the use of the dyno. That is why I still say horsepower is the least specification I will look at. Give me a scale, a bunch of props, a tach and infared temp gun and I will tune your engine for the best thrust/engine performance level. HP is usless. That is why I believe you put to much into the EXACT way HP was measured, it means little, just a number.
I have drivers come in to the shop all the time and I ask what engine do you have? The first words out of their mouth is a Cat 550 horse, or a Detroit 500 horse. Means nothing to me, I want an engine model like 60 series, Cat C-15, or 3406. See everyone is hung up on horsepower! Horsepower means squat unless you can get those ponies to the ground or in the air as in our case.
Thanks Tired Old Man, you actually said something I believe.
But lets let dead dogs lie, he's been kicked around enough already. And Ibcinyou is just someone trying to make a living and I have not seen where he is boasting about HP. He can only give you and me what the manufacture gives him! I know him and he is a straight up guy and stands behind his products. You can't ask for much more!
Truce!
