There is the guy from New Zealand doing reviews on all kinds of R/C stuff. He ask for donations as he tries to remain impartial (I trusted a mag review on an OS FL 70 - curse them. Mag reviews are the pits, totally biased IMHO).

He reckons the FHSS technology (Futaba & others) is technically better than the DSSS technology (Spektrum) but not to such an extent that you need to get rid of your Spektrum equipment. I therefore decided to keep mine, just ensure that the RX battery is 6V (use LiFePO).
