Default RE: Saito 150 - Worth Fixing

Henry gave me a old style big head Saito 120 once. It had dropped a valve and Horizon wouldn't fix it. Lucky there was no collision

The engine was 20 years old at the time and had a lot of neglected hours on it. When I last saw it running, he was using a 14 X 8 prop on it.

Examining the engine internals, the clearance ramps on the cam were beat up indicative of excessive valve lash and high rpm. The tips of the valve stems were peened over also indicative of a large valve gap and high rpm.

I repaired the engine with a spare valve retainer C-clip from the junk box and it then had good compression.

I gave the engine to Bill Roberson.
