Along with being a skid pad they help a little with lubrication of the rocker arm. I would reinstall them if for no other reason, that another event not damage the rocker towers (head/cylinder casting). But if you are going to fly coverless do oil the rocker arm once a flying session, I would give it just a small shot of fuel.
