Great thread. Question: I have 2 Fox 46's and an Eagle 60 and 74. can you use the Miracle plug in all of them or should i stick with the regular r/c long?
thanks
Yes you can use the miracle plug if you want to. But the standard Fox long glow plug without the idle bar works fine on the Schnuerle engines. Schnuerle ported engines do not normally need a idle bar glow plug. But if you don't have a standard long glow plug, you can certainly use the idle bar plugs OK too.
If it is a older baffle plate piston design, the idle bar plugs are best. It was the nature of the baffled engines, in that there tended to be larger fuel droplets that could cause the glow plug to cool off at low speeds, so they put on a idle bar to help keep the fuel from cooling off the glow plug coil.
Now on the old dual plug engines, one glow plug is a short reach plug and one is a long reach plug. Generally the glow plug closest to the intake port is right over the top of the piston's baffle plate, so you can't use a idle bar plug in it, it has to be a short standard plug.
