Tamiya are great tanks, but I shy away from telling a newbie to run out and spend all that money without knowing what he really wants, If nothing else a Heng Long will introduce him inexpensively to the hobby, and if he feels he wants more he can then buy a Tamiya once he figures out what he really likes about RC tanking
