Default Is the Slowstick a good beginner plane?

My vote is also for the Slow Stick. You can get an inexpensive radio set up for it, using standard size servos. Just get a 4 channel radio (minimum) so you can use it for other stuff later.

In an Ideal, decent money situation, I too would say you're better off with a glow trainer and a club with instructor, but people HAVE managed to learn with Slow Sticks, so....

Don't expect to just go out and have a successful first flight. 95% of those who try on their own hit the dirt within the first 60 seconds of flight. The Slow Stick is pretty easily repaired though.

Try Ezone for more info. Electrics only site, but try to ignore the "slimer" (glow) bashing that goes on. Keep glow in mind for the future, there really is NO comparison. (I fly both.)
