I can second your choice of the Slow Stick. I have 2 of them(with differnet motors on each) and they make an excellent starter plane.

Both Airtronics and Hitec make good radios. Get the one with the features you think you will need and for the price you want to pay. I would recommend getting one which comes with a small reciever and micro servos. The SS will fly OK with standard servos, but your third plane might not.
