HI Guys,
Here is a coil that I know it works at 22k, John this is the coil from that ...ignition module that you use to have.
For testings I can send one to you guys,Rob,John,Iura. What I did I ....killed one to see how is done. As you see in picture I tried to put as many details.
I run this coil on one of my engines with a testing CDI from a fried and it works. I tested with a generator and it fiers at 22k rpms, good spark.
The primary is .5mm wire and secondary is 0.05mm (guess AWG45)...so in 2mm dividing 2mm/0.05 is 40 widings per row. 2mmx 2mm (40x40=1600 widings) I measure the resitance and is 556ohms. Now if any one can find out the resistance per 1000 ft or....something we can find out the lenght of wire of this secondary.
This coil is conic and it has diffrent # of windings on the 4 ...compartments. Why is divided like that? Can this be one compartment?
The core is ferrite 7mm diameter and the winding is 12.5mm with .5mm wire that is 3 ohms. As you see in the picture it has ....25 widings, 2 of them are not visible, I cut them off to measure the diameter. I did not check to see how manyAmpsis using. I do have a Bob Shores book," Ignition Coils" that I will have to read about coils. It has couple of coils with description and how to do it. Now...I just look a litle trough the book and something catch my eye. This coil from the picture was used on 24V system and this primary is close to 24AWG . In this book it uses 28 AWG and 44 for secondary. One thing I see, those coils can be for 12,6,4.5V by using diffrent AWG on primary, all uses the same 44 for secondary and is 10000 or 12500 turns. I will have t read this book well to get the ideea.
