If it is a standard wing with no taper or sweep, you can ALWAYS balance at a point representing 25% of the chord, measured back from the leading edge. This is a safe place to start. Moderate throws on the elevator, and pre-set your rate switch to 60% of the high-rates. Roll and yaw axis are not particularly influenced by c/g like the pitch axis always is.
