Good stuff Mitch,
I made some progress on the CAD plans so I'll try to get those to you later today.
Greg, a couple of questions (well, three):
1) Did you decide that going the foam core route was preferable to the built up from last year? How did you find putting together the framed up wing last year? Any major issues?
2) How are you planning on going about the built up vertical? I've been thinking about that on and off for some time - it would be cool to do.
3) Is the Speed 61 the same engine you used last year? As a means to augment my rather thin European engine selection (aside from ST's), I decided to buy a nice Webra RE. It's not new but looks to be in pretty good shape - we'll see when it arrives. I thought that a RE setup on the D60 might be a cool alternative - sort of in line with what Jim did with his later Deceptions and variations on that design.
By the way, the span of the D40 is 52" - I scaled this version with a 40 VF/SF or some such in mind. I also scaled a D50 to 56" span with a YS 45 FR or OS 50 FSR in mind. This latter would also do well on the 55 AX but like you, Mitch likes his models "well charged"
David.
P.S. Mitch, hope you don't mind if I post some Deception engine options in your thread (D40 & D60).
