David,

Good weight saving suggestions. I was thinking the same thing about the fuse top. An alternative would be to tack glue the top, shave it to shape, remove it, and then hollow it out.

Yup, could do that too but a lot more work and harder to achieve that uniform two layer levity. I'd draw some rounded rectangles between the formers and cut that wood out. The 1/8" rectangular scraps will make good wood for formers on smalller models [8D]

Then I would get that pleasing round top at a reduced weight.

The two layer approach would still give you the rounded fuse top - this is why the 1/8" inner | 3/16" outer struck me as preferable to the opposite which would be even lighter.

Good advice on the servos. I'll take it!

Hitec HS-225BB's might be good options on the ailerons and throttle:

You could even use a micro on the throttle.

Too late on the fuse sides, I've already used 3/16. I guess I could cut a truss pattern in the sides, but then it wouldn't have the ''Deception'' look anymore.

truss-sides? Sounds like a lot of work too. Did that on a Mystic after it was framed up and it took quite a while to do a nice job. Besides, the Deception has no rear formers so not a great candidate in my opinion. A good sanding will bring them down to 1/8"
