Default RE: Deception 40 Scratch Build

David,

Main problem(s) with my built up wing last year were weight (I don't know how to build light) and keeping it straight. Scott has brought me out of the ice age of old style foam wings with his great cores. I'm thinking I'll see a much lighter airplane this time around. Plus... the first build was pretty time consuming.

The vertical fin and rudder were framed in 1/4" x 1/4' and 1/4" x 1/2" strips of light balsa. Embedded a small piece of 1/4" ply to hold the steering "tiller" arm of the tail wheel wire, then 1/8" light balsa skins to make the 1/2" thickness I needed.

The Webra RE should be awsome. Tell me about the pipe you end up using.

The Tsunami was running the OS .55AX and it weighed (roughly) 7.5lbs. Really fast! Deception number 1 (with the Webra .61) was about 8.5lbs and flew pretty well once I got the engine problems solved. Would have been better if the wing had been perfectly straight and the weight a little lower.

Scott,

I have the CF tape on order. It should be delivered in a day or two. Thanks for the offer. I like the foam work you did so much, I'm thinking ahead to resurecting my original W-K Hobbies Tiporare with a new wing and stab for the next project after the Deception. I'll ask you for a quote when I get closer to that project.. or you could PM me with that quote knowing it'll probably be a couple of months before I order it.
