The 8x8 prop WAS turning at a hair over 28,000, giving a pitch speed of 212mph. So your ears are very well calibrated if you take Mopar's findings on the 8x8 pushing the plane to within a few mph of pitch speed.
I believe I said that was for speeds under 170 mph. The 8 inch props really shine up untill the 170's, then they fall off very quickly. You go 175 and the pitch speed is closer to 185-190 and it just keeps getting worse as you go faster !!
